These are off brand pistons purchased off eBay. A customer bought these going to attempt a piston swap on their own, they chickened out and bought new ones from me and sent these back with their core rods. They honestly cost the same a name brands and feel just as good quality as name brands. Probably made in the same factory!
- The rods to be honest, I don't know but I think they are AMC rods. They have the exact dimension of a normal 4.0 rod. They come out of a core 4.0, so I know they will work just fine.
- Will come with New 4815 Hasting Rings
- Same goes on the Rods - You will get a refund of $20 per good rod you return. $120 for a Set of 6 Rods. I do want them back! Rods & Nuts
My biggest ever order of rods & pistons should be in around 2-9-2026 - SORRY!! I can't get core rods back fast enough.
Jeep 4.0 inline Six Cylinders are EXTREMELY common to Crack, Bust, Slap, And even have wrist pin noises. Dex highly recommends getting ahead of the issue with New Updated pistons and keep your engine on the road and avoid having to purchase a used engine with the same problematic pistons or causing so much damage to your engine that it becomes unfit to rebuild.
You'll see prices below, and at if you cancel out the Connecting Rod core charge, you should have around $435 in a set of Pistons installed on rods with Rings that should keep your engine going for a long time. So If you do send your old Piston/Rod assembly back I will issue the Full charge back to you.
I Now Offer Rod Bearing In KING Name Brands CLICK HERE For Them
CORES Be sure to keep rod caps in factory location per rod, If caps gets mixed up I can't risk re using them as a rod so no core refund, and I do provide return label with purchase.
- New Seal Power Pistons - $189
- New Rings Hastings $71
- Press on/off/clean Labor $175
- Connecting Rod Core Charge $120 ($20 each rod) I WANT THE CORES BACK!!
- 544 Casting Rods seemed to be used in 1987-1995 Jeep 4.0 Engines. These used pistons that were not common to give issues, so you more than likely will not have this rod but this rod WILL WORK in ANY 4.0 from 1987-2006 In any model Jeep with zero issues.
- 691 Casting Rods seemed to be used in 1996-1999/2001 Jeep 4.0s before they changed to the new AB block. These are basically the same as the 544s, just a different year of a casting number of a connecting rod. These WILL WORK in ANY 4.0 from 1987-2006 In any model Jeep with zero issues which rod you had before.
- 548 Casting Rod Is when Jeep swapped to the 1999/2000-2006 "AB" Block or the Newer Coil Pack style Head (00-01 XJs stuck with 691s) Looks like anything newer now days, Just tried to make it a pinch cheaper that previous years. If you have these in your engine, you can run 544s or 691 with zero issues at all, I have done many swaps myself using a different casting rod vs what came out of the engine.
