These are the Factory OEM Idle Air Control Valve, Also known as the IAC. It is basically what a carburetor used as the manual idle screw, just in electronic form. The ECM/PCM controls this stepper motor to pull a plunger in and out to electronically control the idle of the engine. Need The Bolts?? CLICK HERE
- These are what is know as a "Stepper Motor" which is an electric motor that works in steps rather than works as a normal spinning motor. Aftermarket sensors are cheap made parts and the OEM computers struggle to match the "STEPS" correctly which makes the aftermarket IAC's typically not work properly.
- I was going to offer a "Tested Version" of these using my engine stand. After about 20 of OEM IAC's ALL working properly I seen no reason to offer that service. If you do think you purchased a bad one get with me and we can work it out.
-Despite what the "Internet" Says, Cleaning or being dirty has zero effects on the workings of these sensors. DO NOT SPIN THE ENDS!!!
- These sensors are VERY universal, but they do have a couple variations.
- 1987-1997 Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler Used these on just about all engine these made or used except for the 3.9-V6s & 5.2/5.9-V8s needs a different orientation of the plug angle.
-1998 & Newer Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler Pretty much ALL adapted to this newer plug version. In this newer version I can't think of anything that did not use this style other than the 1998 5.2/5.9. ALL 2.5s , 4.0s, 3.7s, 4.7s, 5.7s, & More used this style plug.
- If the O-Ring is missing or bad you could use gasket maker to seal the mating surface onto the throttle body.
