Power Steering Gear Box - OEM - Jeep Cherokee & Grand Cherokee - XJ & ZJ - 84-01

• This listing includes all of my power steering gearboxes from 1984–2001 Jeep Cherokees (XJ) and 1993–1998 Jeep Grand Cherokees (ZJ).

• Each steering box has its own selection link. This is not a stock-photo listing, as condition varies greatly—especially regarding oil leaks, rust, and whether the unit is OEM or aftermarket. If I do come across an aftermarket part, I can assure you it was purchased pre-COVID, when aftermarket quality was generally much better than what is available today.

• Each steering box will have its own personalized video. Please note the part numbers shown in the video.

• In my 20+ years of working on Jeeps, I have swapped XJ and ZJ steering boxes between models countless times and have not noticed any meaningful difference. I will note which model each box came from so you know exactly what you are purchasing and can choose your preference.

• The pitman arm, if included, on XJ boxes has approximately a 3-3/4-inch drop, while the ZJ pitman arm has approximately a 4-3/4-inch drop. These are interchangeable, and the ZJ pitman arm is often a useful upgrade for the XJ platform.

• The 1984–2001 XJ steering box appears not to have changed. I believe the 1996–2001 pumps had lower pressure to slow the steering down during the SUV rollover concerns of the 1990s—but that is a video for another day!

• According to the person who buys all of my core boxes, 1993–1995 ZJ boxes have a slower ratio, which means more overall power assist. He says the 1996–1998 boxes use the same ratio as the ZJ boxes. I cannot confirm this as fact; it is simply what I was told.

• I am working on a core-return system to buy back your old, leaky, or failed steering box. It may take a little time to establish, but if my price is not as low as another online source, the core-return value may help offset the difference. Plus, you get a personalized video of the exact part you are purchasing!
  
  - After talking to my core buyer, his offer is $25 per box. Return shipping cost will usually be a $20-40 cost for me to include a return shipping label for you.
