These are the Factory OEM Quality Timing Chains pulled from core 4.0 engines. These a far superior Quality than anything you can buy new, that is most likely mass produced in China cheap as possible. I personally have tore down 1000s of Jeep 4.0s, Factory OEM ones ALL have the exact same slack, which looks way worse than it actually is. ALL Reman engines I have torn down use the replacement chains you would more than likely be using, they all have tremendous amounts of slack in ALL directions. Aftermarket Quality is SO Cheaply produced, whereas Jeep in their years of production was actually worried about these lasting unlike cheap parts makers these days!
- I have found three different part numbers used on the upper cam shaft sprockets. Information on these is not easy to look up. On my next tear downs, I will look and find out the years exactly. I do think the lower crank shaft sprocket and chain is all the same other than the early models with the smaller bicycle style chains, those do seem to stretch and show excessive wear.
- Mopar # 53020445 SHOULD be 1996-1999 with the CAM BUTTON & Spring Style cam retaining styler setup. These would be and upgrade for the 1987-1995 4.0 Models with the older style chain & sprockets.
- Mopar # 53010400 & 53010557 Would come in 1999-2006 Jeep 4.0s with the New Cam Thrust Plate design. These would not work in 1998 & older blocks that had a cam button with a spring.
- ALL of these have been professionally cleaned, and cover in rust preventors, ready to install and use. ALL are Chains & Sprockets are zip tied together for a match set. If any I see has excessive wear, which is rare, I scrap them and move on in life.
These will fit 2.5 four cylinders also, I am not 100% sure but I do believe the years would be the same as the 4.0 years.
